One of hyaluronic acid's great advantages is that it can be broken down. Hyalase is an enzymatic injection that dissolves the hyaluronic acid in the filler so the body can remove it naturally. The treatment is used to correct aesthetic problems related to fillers — for example overfilled lips or areas where an excessive amount of filler has been injected, regardless of where the original treatment was performed.
After treatment the filler breaks down within 24 hours and the appearance is restored. A patch test is always performed first to rule out an allergic reaction to the substance (very rare).
